Transitioning membership systems

A customer's membership is stored in Perkville as an external member record. There is a many-to-one relationship between a Perkville customer and their external member records.

If you are transitioning memberships systems, you will want to coordinate with the Perkville team to ensure stale external member records from your old system do not conflict with external member records from your new system. The Perkville team can remove the stale external member records once you are transitioned. Without this, stale active external member records will mark customers as active, even if they don't have an active membership in the new system.

Perkville will mark as customer as active if they have any external member record with a external_membership_status or "ACTIVE"
