Referrals on Perkville are marked as "completed" when actions, specified by or , are fulfilled by the referee. You can decide which earning rules and activities complete a referral by toggling the "Completes Referral" setting to "Yes". Let's break it down:
Earning rules: These are rules that earn points such as 1 point per dollar spent. Let's say that you have such an earning rule and its "Completes Referral" toggle is set to "Yes". If a customer refers someone and that person makes a purchase and earns points via this rule then the referral will be marked as complete, and the referrer will earn referral points.
Exception: If the flag is True, and this is the reason points were not awarded, the referral is still completed.
Activities: Alternatively, activities can also mark referrals as completed. This is useful when you want a certain action to complete a referral without necessarily earning points. For example, a gym might want "new membership joins" to complete a referral but not to earn points since the person just became a member and may not yet be aware of the loyalty program.
Dave refers his friend Melissa.
Melissa visits the business and makes a purchase, satisfying an earning rule that completes the referral.
Since the earning rule's "Completes Referral" toggle is set to "Yes", Dave earns points for the referral.
If rewards participation is this will affect how you can complete a referral.
Earning activities will not be awarded to non-members and not complete referrals
If you an earning activity to a non-member, any referrals will complete
will trigger referral completions for non-members
If an individual is referred to your business by multiple other individuals, all of the referrers will receive bonus points.
For example, if Elise is referred to your business by Samantha and Sarah, both Samantha and Sarah will receive bonus points and their referrals will be marked as completed.
