Bulk point updates

In Perkville, staff members with Employee or Admin level permissions can efficiently manage large volumes of point transactions by using bulk point updates. This is useful not only for adding and redeeming points in bulk, but also for correcting point errors.

There are two ways to add points in bulk:

  1. Using the Add / Redeem page: Use this process if each customer is getting the same number of points

  2. Using the CSV upload process: Use this process if each customer is getting a different number of points and you need to process a large number of transactions.

Accessing bulk point tools

To access both the Add / Redeem and CSV upload tools, click My Business and the Add / Redeem. To access the CSV upload, then click CSV Upload in the upper-right corner.

Add / Redeem

The Add / Redeem is best if you want to add the same point value for a list of customers. If you need to add different points values, use the CSV upload.

Quick Overview

  1. Choose an action: Give Points, Redeem Points, or Log Activity

  2. Select the location: Pick which location these points or activities will be associated with

  3. Enter the list of email addresses: Paste a list of emails on separate lines (no commas or semicolons)

  4. Select the appropriate rule: Decide which earning activity, redemption, or progress activity you'd like to issue

The Add / Redeem tool allows you to add the same point amount to a list of customers

CSV Upload

CSV Uploads allow you to award different point amounts to a list of emails

Quick Overview

  1. Select the location: Pick which location these points or activities will be associated with

  2. Choose an action: Give Points, Redeem Points, or Log Activity

  3. Upload your CSV: Must be a .csv

CSV formatting

You must upload a CSV. The CSV must be formatted with the following columns:

  • Column A: The email address you'd like to award points to

  • Column B: The quantity of the transaction

If you are awarding points for a 5 point earning activity, the quantity will by 5. A row with a value of 1, will award 5 points and a row with a value of 4 will award 20 points.

Tips

  • Test with a small batch: Upload a few records first to confirm everything works as intended before doing a large bulk upload.

  • Keep records: Keep a copy of your CSV in case you need to double-check your entries or confirm points awarded.

  • Be mindful of email addresses: Typos in emails can lead to points going to the wrong accounts or not being awarded at all.
