Levels
Perkville's Levels feature adds a new dimension to your loyalty program—motivating members to stay engaged over the long term by unlocking special rewards or privileges as they accumulate points.
What Are Levels?
Levels are status tiers (such as Gold, Silver, or Platinum) that members can reach based on the total number of points they earn. These levels can unlock either:
Point-based rewards, such as a branded item or service that requires redemption.
VIP-style privileges, such as exclusive access or no cancellation fees as examples.
The most effective programs often combine both economic incentives and VIP recognition—rewarding members not only with tangible benefits but also with elevated status that makes them feel valued.
Points-Based Qualification Options
You can choose how members qualify for levels:
Calendar Year Points Earned (Recommended) Members qualify based on the number of points earned during a calendar year.
Once a level is earned, the member retains it for the remainder of the current year and all of the following year.
At the start of the next calendar year, their points total (toward levels) resets to zero, but their level status remains unchanged for that year.
To maintain or move up in level beyond that second year, members must requalify by earning enough points during the new year.
Lifetime Points Earned Members qualify based on the total points they’ve accumulated over time. Their level increases as they reach milestones and does not decrease.
How to Set Up Levels
Here’s how the setup process works:
1. Define Level Details
We’ll work with you to create each level, including:
Name (e.g., Silver, Gold, VIP)
Points required
2. Add Level-Based Rewards
You can create rewards that are only available to members who have reached a specific level:
Go to your Rewards Program settings page.
Add or edit a reward.
Under Eligibility, restrict the reward to the desired level(s). This ensures only qualifying members can see and redeem those rewards.
3. Add VIP Privileges
Why Use Levels?
Levels are more than just a fun add-on—they create a long-term dynamic that keeps members interested even after they’ve completed short-term goals or challenges. The feeling of being a "VIP" taps into intrinsic motivation and brand loyalty, making your program more than just a points-for-prizes system.
